JW Chrisians in name only-what do you think
by enoughisenough injw claim they are the true religion and they mention the love they have among themselves as proof.
i have been watching a youtube creator who had some thoughts on the subject, bringing out jw were not really christian, based upon their actions.
he made a pretty good case.

I agree with JeffT. I been going to churches for 20 years. And, that is my conclusion as well.
If a person believes in the deity, death & resurrection of Jesus and that he died in their place as vicarious punishment for their sin... they are Christian.
If they try to add works, their church, and anyone or anything else to that contract, they are not Christian, period.“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
'by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified"

My grandmother called my mother
by Anony Mous inso, i’m just posting this as a warning to lurking jws.
if you’re still on the fence, here is a story.. my grandmother, now in her 80s hasn’t talked to anyone in the family for over 20 years ever since my mother was the last one of her children that left ‘the truth’, she had sent my mother a card to never talk to her again.
so here we are 21 years later, she gets a call out of the blue that she needed help, she hadn’t been able to get into her kitchen.

I'm sorry to hear that AnyMous. Cults take it all, and when there is nothing else to give they still want more.
My dad is 91. Lives in a apt. by himself with only 3 other neighbors nearby in a small town. No backyard, no pets allowed, just four walls and his zoom meetings. I own 75 acres of wooded land with ponds and much wildlife less that an hour from him. He loves nature. But, he'd rather end his days in misery rather than enjoy his sons and grandsons who can't live with his WT lies.The gates of hell are all locked from the inside.

@TonusOH,
Those historians are referring to what they call historical facts. The standards of evidence are significantly eased to account for how difficult it is (in many cases, impossible) to prove that someone existed.
Nonsense. There is far more reliable historical evidence for Jesus life, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection than for any other historical figure of ancient times. Alexander the Great, who was born some 350 years before Christ, is based on two original biographical accounts of his life by Arrian and Plutarch, which were written some 400 years after Alexander died.
The manuscripts of Virgil and Horace, both of whom lived within a generation of Christ, were written more than four centuries after their deaths. The copy of works by Livy and Tacitus on Roman history and the works of Pliny Secundus on natural history were written more than 500 years after the time of the original account.
Yet no one doubts Alexander the Great, Virgil and Horace lived and authored great poetic masterpieces. Nor do we hear questions about the authenticity and accuracy of accounts of Livy and Tacitus in chronicling the events of the Roman Emperors Augustus, Claudius, Nero, or Tiberius.
About 1,000 times more manuscripts preserve the deeds and teaching of Jesus in the New Testament (about 25,000 total) than there are preserving other classical ancient works of historic figures who lived at approximately the same time, with the exception of Homer, whose Iliad is backed by 1,800 manuscripts. But that is still less than one-tenth the number of ancient manuscripts that back the authenticity of the New Testament.
The existence of Jesus is written about by his enemies, his friends, disinterested non-biblical sources etc. He is the most established figure in all of history.
Using your standard, how could you know that anyone has ever existed, including The Dawkins?
Famed Jewish archaeologist Eric Meyers, is emeritus professor in Judaic studies at Duke University. He is also the Bernice & Morton Lerner Professor at Duke University Meyers & has degrees from Dartmouth College, Brandeis University and Harvard University. He has served as President of the American Schools of Oriental Research. He says:
“I don’t know any mainstream scholar who doubts the historicity of Jesus ... no one who is serious doubts that he’s a historical figure.”
TonusOH, if what you (and Anony Mous) say is true, what would prompt the top atheist and non Christian scholars to lie to the public?
Do you think that the way you "reason" has anything to do with the fact that Atheists are one of the most disliked groups in America? Only 45 percent of Americans say they would vote for a qualified atheist presidential candidate, and atheists are rated as the least desirable group for a potential son-in-law or daughter-in-law to belong to.
Will Gervais at the University of British Columbia recently published a set of studies looking at why atheists are so disliked. His conclusion: It comes down to trust.
Do you think that they way your mind works would engender or inhibit trust from others? Are you trying to replicate in your life a fringe sub-culture like the one you had as a JW? We were trained to be societal freaks, outcasts, undisirables.... and were proud of it. Do you think you might have adopted another similar subculture outside of your awareness, subconsciously?
You can re-train your mind to function properly.

neither accept nor deny that a preacher named Jesus might be the actual inspiration for the Bible character.
@TonusOH
Oh give me a break. So very cultic of you. So Bart Ehrman (and most all other scholars) calls you a mythicist if you deny Jesus' existence. For Jesus' deniers, that must feel weird to be called a mythicist by the top atheist bible critic representing their own worldview.
The problem you have is that once you accept Jesus' historical existence, as have virtuall ALL historians, then you must accept some form of evidence for that belief. But it is the evidence itself that you claim you cannot accept! See the problem you have? Pure insanity.
You are either a mythicist or a person employing suppression. Both of which are supposedly the antithesis of natual materialism.
Why should anyone think that a mythicist or a person known for suppressing facts is living in reality?
Look, I'm not picking on you personally. We have all had mental health issues after leaving WT. It is important to learn how to think loigically after having lived in insanity as WT subjects.
One definition of insanity is doing the same think over and over and expecting a different result. There is no safety in mythicism nor suppression..... both of which was our daily diet as JW's in our previous lives.

@TonusOH
The consensus among most all scholars who publish in this area are several facts surrounding he Resurrection of Jesus. You cannot change that, no matter how much you deny, run, and suppress it. You do not get to personally determine reality. That is truly delusional. You have never offered even one alterantive opinion on any of these facts; because you know there just aren't any good answers. So, like many ideolouges, you just wave the hand and say, there is no evidence. I got that treatment from the day I was born in a 4th gen JW family. No thank you.The bible calls this a mental condition known as suppression in Romans 1: 18 - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
Bart Ehrmann the leading atheist biblical scholar calls people who do not believe Jesus existed "mythicists". Whether a person like you is a mythicist, or a person suffering from a self-imposed suppression, it really makes no difference. You are disconnected from reality by either account.

I believe Sea Breeze was speaking in the vernacular when using the expression "God's birthday."
I guess I could have used the term the Creators' Birthday. The Deity, Death, Burial, & Resurrection of Jesus is the earliest Christology. Anything that denies that, is simply not of Christian origin. Only God could resurrected himself from the dead...which is what Jesus predicted he would do. That is what this is all about. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway, it's almost God's birthday. Thank you God for taking on human flesh and forever existing from that time forward in the person of Jesus, son of Mary.
John 1:3
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Colossians 1:16
For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities
Philippians 2:9–11 says that the name of Jesus is the name above all names, even higher than the name JEHOVAH. “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow
Sometimes I wonder if you're just having us on.
@TonusOH, They are facts, accepted by scholars who are Jewish, Christian and skeptic. Get over it. No one is immune to scruitny. Like any atheist all you have to do is provide plausible explanations for the historical FACTS surrounding the resurrection in order to be taken seriously. If you are unable or unwilling, what exactly is the problem with getting on board?

@SydBarret,
Ad Hominem atttacks are universally known to be an admittance of FAILURE to provide anything of substance. If you really want to promote natural materialism, all you have to do is come up with plausible explanations for the facts surrounding the resurrection of Jesus.
It should be simple, right?
Here's what I believe after 60 years on this planet. I believe the most fundamental feature of humans is their ability to lie. They lie to others all the time, but mostly they lie to themselves.
Atheists are never acknowleged to exist in the bible. They are described as people who speak to themselves certain lies. "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God". This is known by science as the psychological device known as "suppression". In other words, It is a mental illness; likely caused by some real or imagined trauma.
There are dozens of ways to utterly destroy any rational basis for atheism. DNA is only one. It has multiple codes that can be read frontwards, backwards and even three-dimensionally. It is equivalent to reading an encyclopedic set of 175 volumes, then turning the books upside down and starting from the back, reading new information, then ripping out all the pages and throwing them in a pile and the places where the pages touch each other create a new three dimensional code of information.
Atheists ask their neighbors to follow them in their delusions and believe that it came from literally nothing.
People who lie will always tell on themselves when they talk. Atheists claim that an explosion of unguided nothingness created rules of logic, reason, mathematics and many other non-tangible foundations of our existence. But, atheists don't rely on the chance and happenstance they SAY they believe in that gave them these gifts in life. And the reason is that in their heart of hearts, atheists know that reason, math, and logic are not artifacts of exploded nothingness, but rather a reliable description of the way God's mind works. In this way, atheists let it slip that they really do know God. It is hypocritical to rely on logic as a "correct" guide while at the same time claiming that it is an artifact of chance, which is what they SAY they believe in. Their practices give them away.
But, the ultimate hypocrisy will occur here in a few days when atheists enjoy all the good things associated with God's birthday, while at the same time claiming (lying to themselves) he doesn't exist.
I would never ask an atheist (or anyone else) to not celebrate Christmas. Perhaps they well meet Jesus in someone's smile, gift or kindness and ask him to restore their sanity.

21 years ago, my parents wanted to come visit. So, I said sure come on over. My girlfriend and I had just put up my first Christmas tree.
They came over and stayed for several hours and never said a word about the Christmas tree in the corner. We said goodbye at the appropriate time, we both waved as they were driving off. I pretty much never heard from them again.
Jesus made several promises to his friends in this kind of situation. Over the past 20 years, he has lived up to all of his promises to me, and exceeded them.
Merry Christmas !
